Stephanie Vaquer defeated Liv Morgan to win the WWE Women’s World Championship during WWE’s live event in Santiago, Chile, on September 12, 2026.
The victory began Vaquer’s second reign with the championship and gave her one of the biggest moments of her career in front of her home-country fans.
Becky Lynch served as the special guest referee for the match. Her involvement eventually became the deciding factor in how the championship changed hands.
Morgan appeared to have Vaquer defeated after connecting with Oblivion. Lynch counted to two before suddenly stopping and refusing to complete the three-count.
The special guest referee then flipped Morgan off, making it clear that she had intentionally prevented the champion from retaining her title.
Vaquer immediately took advantage of the situation. She hit Morgan with the SVB before following with the Vaquer Inferno to secure the victory.
The result ended Morgan’s Women’s World Championship reign after 148 days. She successfully defended the title twice during that run.
One of those defenses came against Vaquer on the September 7 episode of WWE RAW. Morgan retained that night with assistance from The Judgment Day.
Vaquer needed only five days to recover from that loss and claim the championship. Winning in Santiago made the start of her second reign even more meaningful.
Lynch’s actions now create questions surrounding all three women. Morgan has a clear reason to demand another championship match, while Lynch may have to explain why she deliberately cost her the title.
