Samoa Joe is back in AEW, and Jack Perry immediately learned that the former world champion was not interested in making peace.
Joe returned during the AEW All Out Tailgate Brawl after Perry had challenged him to appear. Perry extended his hand when Joe arrived, but Joe answered with a headbutt that instantly turned the confrontation physical.
Perry had called Joe out during the September 16 episode of AEW Dynamite, telling him to show his face before ending his challenge with the words, “Make my day.” AEW added to the anticipation by showing “JOE IS GONNA KILL YOU” painted on a wall after Perry’s promo.
Joe had been away from AEW television for several months after announcing in May that he would step away for outside opportunities. His absence also coincided with his acting work on Twisted Metal.
The return places Joe directly back into Perry’s orbit and gives AEW another heated rivalry heading into All Out. Perry wanted Joe to answer his challenge, and he got exactly that, just not with the response he expected.
