Dunne admitted that his career has been a strange ride lately. He thanked fans for staying with him through the changes and promised he still has plenty left to prove.
“I know my career in the last few years has been ups and downs. It’s been a weird ride. But I just want to thank you all for sticking with me. No matter what happens, I promise one thing — any time I’m given a chance to step in this ring, between these ropes, I’m going to prove to you all that I’m still one of the best wrestlers in the whole world.”
The message landed because Dunne has gone from being one of the top names in British wrestling to a very different role in WWE. He is now aligned with Bravo Americano, played by Tyler Bate, and El Grande Americano, played by Ludwig Kaiser.
Dunne also praised Leon Cage after their match. He told fans that Cage has the tools to become one of the best wrestlers in the world and possibly go even further than he did.
He also defended the current British wrestling scene. Dunne reminded fans that the United Kingdom still produces elite talent, even after the scene took major hits over the years.
“Don’t let anyone tell you that British wrestling still doesn’t create some of the best wrestlers going.”
Dunne said Brit Wres will rise again because of wrestlers like Cage. That statement carries weight because Dunne helped lead the last major British wrestling boom before WWE launched NXT UK.
His value behind the scenes has also grown. Dunne produced the praised Ludwig Kaiser vs. Chad Gable mask match, showing that WWE and AAA can use him in more than one way.
Still, his speech made his mindset clear. Whether he is wrestling under a mask, producing matches, or stepping back into the ring as himself, Pete Dunne still believes he belongs among the best wrestlers in the world.
