McAfee family celebrates Midas Robert’s arrival following Samantha’s high-risk pregnancy.

Pat McAfee and his wife, Samantha, are celebrating the arrival of their second child after a frightening delivery situation.
McAfee announced that Samantha gave birth to their son, Midas Robert McAfee, on May 22 at 10:42 PM. Their baby boy arrived weighing 6 pounds and 6 ounces after doctors performed an emergency C-section due to Samantha’s high-risk pregnancy and severe preeclampsia.
Pat shared that Midas was able to raise his oxygen levels enough early on for the family to experience several first newborn moments together. Since he was born at 36 weeks, he later needed extra help adjusting and was taken to the NICU.
Midas received additional support while Samantha recovered from surgery. Pat said he moved between Samantha’s room and the NICU as their son was placed on CPAP, given a feeding tube, and kept warm while doctors helped him continue developing.
McAfee praised Samantha for her strength throughout the delivery and recovery. He said watching her go through the process was inspiring and something their children will one day understand.
After roughly 36 hours in the NICU, Midas was released back to the family’s room. Pat said the moment became a full celebration for everyone involved.
The family is now looking forward to bringing Midas home so his older sister, Mackenzie, can meet him. Pat also thanked their family members for helping care for Mackenzie while he and Samantha remained at the hospital.
McAfee also explained the meaning behind his son’s name. He said he had wanted to use Midas as a name since high school, after learning about Greek mythology.
The middle name Robert honors Samantha’s late father, giving the name even deeper family meaning.
Samantha previously revealed in November 2025 that she and Pat were expecting a baby boy after an emotional IVF journey. Now, after a difficult delivery and NICU stay, the McAfee family is preparing for life at home with Midas Robert McAfee.
