Norman Reedus has landed another major television role, joining James Marsden in Apple TV’s upcoming thriller series Disavowed.
Variety reports that Reedus has officially joined the project, although details surrounding his character are being kept under wraps. Marsden was previously announced as the show’s lead when Disavowed was unveiled earlier this year.
The series follows legendary CIA case officer Brad Griffin, played by Marsden, after he is abruptly fired while hunting an elusive assassin responsible for killing one of his colleagues.
Removed from the intelligence world and left disgraced, Griffin decides to continue the pursuit on his own. His new motivation is a $15 million federal bounty placed on the assassin, setting up a global chase outside the restrictions of his former CIA career.
Disavowed was created from an original idea by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, who will also serve as executive producers.
Reedus’ casting adds another high-profile name to the series as he prepares to close a major chapter of his television career. He spent 11 seasons playing Daryl Dixon on The Walking Dead before taking the character into his own spinoff, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon.
Daryl Dixon is scheduled to conclude with its fourth and final season in 2027, meaning Disavowed could become one of Reedus’ most prominent television projects following his long run within The Walking Dead universe.
Reedus has also built an extensive film career that includes The Boondock Saints, Blade II, The Bikeriders, and Ballerina. Gaming fans also know him as Sam Porter Bridges from the Death Stranding series.
Michelle MacLaren will direct the first two episodes of Disavowed and serve as an executive producer. Tom Spezialy, Marsden, Theresa Kang, Caroline Garity, and Michelle Hobbs are also among the executive producers, with Apple Studios and Blue Marble Pictures producing.
Apple TV has not yet announced a premiere date or revealed additional details about Reedus’ mysterious character.
