Nic Nemeth wasted no time making his new TNA World Championship reign about himself.
The July 2 episode of TNA Impact opened with Ryan Nemeth introducing his brother after a huge Slammiversary weekend. Ryan called Nic the greatest professional wrestler in history before bringing out the new champion.
Nic arrived with the TNA World Title after defeating Mike Santana at Slammiversary. His win came after Ryan got involved during the match, creating the opening Nic needed to use the Call Your Shot trophy and bust Santana open.
That damage helped shift the main event in Nemeth’s favor. Santana fought through major blood loss, but Nic eventually walked out as a two-time TNA World Champion.
On Impact, Nemeth said he felt almost as good as he looked. He then praised the Slammiversary roster before turning the spotlight back toward himself.
Nemeth brought up his so-called body count, making it clear he meant the list of wrestlers he has beaten throughout his career. Ryan then read off several names, including Randy Orton, Kane, Cody Rhodes, Jeff Hardy, Rey Mysterio, Samoa Joe, The Miz, Matt Cardona, John Morrison, and John Cena.
The celebration took a turn when KC Navarro interrupted. Navarro said he respected Nemeth and had been learning from him, but admitted he did not like the way the new champion was carrying himself.
Ryan immediately took issue with Navarro and tried to shut him down. Navarro fired back, telling Ryan to stay quiet while he spoke to Nic.
Nemeth eventually stepped between them and called both men out for arguing while he stood there as champion. He suggested they settle their issue by meeting face-to-face later that night.
Nemeth said he would speak with the Authority’s Director, Daria Ray, to see if Ryan Nemeth vs. KC Navarro could be made official. Then he returned to the only subject he seemed to care about most: himself.
The new champion closed by calling himself the greatest professional wrestler walking the earth. He warned that anyone who challenges him will fall and be added to his list.
Nic Nemeth’s first Impact appearance as champion was loud, arrogant, and full of self-praise. After taking the title from Santana, he is already making sure everyone knows this reign will come with plenty of ego.
