Grayson Waller is the new NXT Champion after surviving Tony D’Angelo, Cruz Montana, and Zilla Fatu in a chaotic Fatal Four-Way Match at NXT Heatwave.

Waller wasted little time targeting D’Angelo when the bell rang, while Montana and Fatu began trading shots in the corner. The four-way format quickly created openings for every competitor as control shifted repeatedly.

Montana gained momentum by sending D’Angelo outside before diving over the top rope onto the rest of the field. He later brought Waller back inside for Three Amigos suplexes, but Waller stopped the sequence with a throat chop and followed with a neckbreaker.

The fight eventually spilled out of the ring. Fatu sent D’Angelo into the barricade and ring post, while Waller drove Fatu into the steel steps. D’Angelo answered by hitting exploder suplexes on Montana and Fatu before bringing a chair and table into play.

Fatu appeared to have the championship won after hitting D’Angelo with a Samoan Drop and a leaping Samoan Spike. The referee began counting, but Waller pulled him out of the ring before the three-count could be completed.

That interference kept Waller alive long enough for the match to become even more chaotic. Fatu tried to punish him near the announce table, but Waller escaped after going to the eyes.

D’Angelo then speared Fatu before Montana helped send Fatu through the announce table setup. Waller climbed to the top rope and crashed down onto Fatu, driving him through the table and removing one of the biggest threats from the finish.

With Fatu down, D’Angelo and Montana returned to the ring and battled for control. D’Angelo connected with a German suplex and spear, but Montana answered with Spin the Block.

Montana appeared ready to pin D’Angelo and capture the championship, but Waller struck at exactly the right moment. He slid back into the ring, threw Montana outside, and covered D’Angelo himself for the three-count.

The opportunistic finish gave Waller the NXT Championship after surviving a match filled with interference, weapons, and near falls.
