Dead City And Daryl Dixon Set Final Walking Dead Era

AMC prepares emotional final year for major Walking Dead spinoffs

Summary

– Dead City season 3 is scheduled to premiere during summer 2026 on AMC and AMC+

– Daryl Dixon season 4 is targeting a fall 2026 release and will end the series

– The two seasons could mark the end of new Walking Dead television content for now

Walking Dead fans are heading into what could become one of the franchise’s most emotional years yet.

AMC confirmed that Dead City season 3 will premiere during summer 2026 on AMC and AMC+. The series follows Maggie Rhee and Negan as they continue to survive in walker-infested Manhattan while attempting to build a future in the dangerous city.

Production for the new season has already wrapped in Massachusetts, and the series is currently finishing post-production ahead of its release.

Dead City will also receive a major international spotlight before its AMC debut. The first two episodes were selected to open the 65th Monte-Carlo TV Festival in June 2026, giving media and industry professionals an early look at the season.

At the same time, Daryl Dixon season 4 is reportedly targeting a fall 2026 release window. AMC officially confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con 2025 that the fourth season will serve as the final chapter of the spinoff series.

The timing strongly points to another September premiere, following the release pattern of the previous three seasons. Norman Reedus is expected to close out Daryl Dixon’s story after playing the character across the Walking Dead universe for more than 16 years.

If both series conclude as planned in 2026, it would mark the first time since 2010 that the Walking Dead franchise enters a year without a new television series already in the works.

AMC continues developing additional projects connected to the franchise, so the universe itself is not ending completely. Still, the conclusions of Dead City and Daryl Dixon represent a major shift for one of television’s most successful zombie franchises.

For longtime fans who followed the story since Rick Grimes first woke up in that Georgia hospital, 2026 is shaping up to feel like the closing chapter of an entire era.
