Gable called Mysterio one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time and described him as someone who continues to carry himself with class. He made it clear that Rey’s attitude behind the scenes impressed him just as much as what he did during their championship match.
The two pushed each other throughout the title defense. Mysterio survived multiple Angle Slams, including one from the top rope, while Gable survived two 619s before countering Rey’s aerial offense late in the match.
Gable eventually retained the championship by catching Mysterio in a small package, but the result was not the main focus of his post. Instead, he said the match represented everything he loves about professional wrestling and admitted that the experience made him feel alive.
Gable closed his message by simply thanking Mysterio, turning the spotlight away from his successful title defense and onto the respect he has for one of WWE’s most accomplished veterans.
