The AEW star says fans are seeing more of his real personality
Summary
– Andrade says his divorce from Charlotte Flair helped him become more open on screen
– He previously held back parts of his personality out of respect for his marriage
– Andrade says his current playful behavior is closer to who he really is
Andrade says fans are seeing a much more natural version of him these days, and he credits his divorce from Charlotte Flair with giving him the freedom to show more of his real personality.
Speaking with Latin Lover, Andrade was told that he appears more relaxed and comfortable during his recent appearances. Andrade agreed and explained that the change came after his marriage ended.
He said he began thinking more about his personality and how much of his Latino background and natural behavior could become part of what fans see from him.
Andrade described himself as someone who enjoys joking around, being playful, and complimenting people. He said those traits were always part of who he was, but he deliberately kept that side of himself under control while married.
According to Andrade, the decision was not something imposed on him by WWE or anyone else. He did not want anything he did as part of his wrestling persona to come across as disrespectful toward Charlotte.
After the divorce, Andrade said he felt able to loosen up and be himself without worrying about how those interactions might be interpreted.
That change has carried over into his performances, where fans have seen him become more playful with referees, people at ringside, and others around him.
Andrade said those moments are not part of a newly created wrestling gimmick. Instead, he believes they are much closer to how he naturally behaves away from the ring.
His latest comments also offer a different perspective on the divorce, following Andrade’s December 2025 remarks, in which he spoke highly of Charlotte.
At that time, Andrade praised Charlotte as a person and his former wife while taking responsibility for the end of their marriage rather than blaming her.
Now, Andrade says the biggest difference fans are noticing is simply that he no longer feels the need to filter parts of his personality.
