Former WWE NIL signee faces Nebraska domestic violence case
Summary
– AJ Ferrari was arraigned in Nebraska after being arrested on an outstanding warrant
– A judge set his bond at 10 percent of $200,000 and ruled he was a flight risk
– Ferrari faces charges tied to an alleged domestic violence incident involving a pregnant woman
AJ Ferrari is now moving through the Nebraska court system after his arrest on an outstanding warrant.
The former WWE NIL signee was arraigned in Lancaster County Court on July 8 after Douglas County deputies arrested him one day earlier. Ferrari is facing charges of third-degree assault by strangulation or suffocation of a pregnant woman, third-degree domestic violence assault, and first-degree false imprisonment.
Prosecutors asked for Ferrari’s bond to be set at $250,000 because of the seriousness of the allegations.
Ferrari’s attorney argued against that amount, saying Ferrari was in Nebraska to turn himself in when deputies detained him. The defense also said Ferrari lives in Texas, the alleged victim lives in California, and that he is a public figure who could not easily hide.
The judge still determined Ferrari was a flight risk and set bond at 10 percent of $200,000. Ferrari is also barred from having any contact with the alleged victim as part of his bond conditions.
Ferrari is scheduled to return to court on August 13 at 10 a.m.
His arrest happened on July 7 in Douglas County. Authorities said investigators had been watching a residence near Bennington where Ferrari was allegedly staying.
Deputies later saw a man identified as Ferrari crawl out of a garage and get into the back seat of a truck. The vehicle was stopped near 204th Street and Grand Avenue, where Ferrari was taken into custody.
The charges stem from an alleged incident in May in Lincoln. Prosecutors claim Ferrari assaulted a pregnant woman during an argument, dragged her off a bed, strangled her, pinned her down, stopped her from leaving, and took her phone after she tried calling her mother.
Ferrari was once connected to WWE through its NIL program, but his latest court appearance now puts the focus on a serious legal case. He is no longer in the wanted stage and now faces bond conditions, a no-contact order, and another court date.
