Team Briscoe and Team MJF will clash in six-on-six steel cage match
Summary
– AEW announced Team Briscoe vs. Team MJF for Forbidden Door in a six-on-six steel cage match
– Mark Briscoe will earn a guaranteed World Title shot if his team wins
– Jay Lethal, Lee Johnson, and Blake Christian attacked Briscoe before The Conglomeration made the save
Mark Briscoe’s issue with MJF took a major turn on AEW Dynamite.
The June 10 episode featured Briscoe getting jumped from behind after money appeared to change hands. Jay Lethal, Lee Johnson, and Blake Christian attacked Briscoe, with Lethal making it clear that payment was part of the plan.
Briscoe fought back and avoided Lethal Injection, showing that he was ready for one of Lethal’s most dangerous moves. The numbers still caught up with him as Johnson and Christian joined the attack.
Briscoe tried to take on all three men by himself, but the situation became too much for him. The Conglomeration then rushed out to even the odds.
Kyle O’Reilly, Roderick Strong, and Tomohiro Ishii hit the ring to back up Briscoe. Orange Cassidy also made his way out, arriving in his usual relaxed style.
Briscoe then revealed that he had spoken with Tony Khan about the main event for Forbidden Door. According to Briscoe, Khan told him to find five partners, while MJF would also need to find five people of his own.
That sets up a six-on-six match at Forbidden Door. Briscoe added that if his team wins, he will receive a guaranteed AEW World Title shot.
The announcement became even bigger when Briscoe confirmed the match would take place inside a steel cage. That stipulation raises the stakes and gives both sides nowhere to run.
MJF does not need to agree to the match because Tony Khan has already made it official. Now, both sides must build their teams before Forbidden Door.
Briscoe now has a clear path to a World Title opportunity, but he will have to survive a violent cage match first.
