Copeland rules out another WWE return and says AEW will be the final stop of his career
Summary
– Adam Copeland says he plans to retire in AEW
– Copeland said he has no desire to return to WWE
– His AEW contract may include added time from injuries and acting work
Adam Copeland has made it clear that AEW will be the final wrestling company of his career, ruling out another WWE return before retirement.
During an appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, Copeland was asked directly whether he planned to finish his career in AEW. He confirmed that this is exactly what he wants and acknowledged that the answer may disappoint some longtime WWE fans.
Copeland explained that he loves AEW’s atmosphere, energy, and locker room. He said he has no interest in going anywhere else and feels that he has already accomplished everything possible during his lengthy WWE career.
The former world champion spent more than two decades with WWE and returned to the ring with the company in 2020 after being forced to retire in 2011. Copeland now views that chapter as complete and believes both sides got everything they could out of the partnership.
His AEW contract may also last longer than originally expected. Copeland said the deal might have initially been scheduled to expire around October. Still, time away due to a broken leg and acting projects, including The Beekeeper and Percy Jackson, could have extended it.
That contract situation matters more as Copeland openly acknowledges that retirement is getting closer. He has previously said his body is beginning to decide for him after receiving several additional years in the ring following his first retirement.
Copeland has also joked about dealing with arthritis and said this eventual retirement should be easier to accept because he knows it is coming rather than having the decision suddenly taken away from him.
Whenever that final match arrives, Copeland does not plan to return to WWE for one last goodbye. He wants his final chapter to end where his current one began, inside AEW.
