Knight entered the match hoping to become a double champion after challenging Omega on the July 15 episode of Dynamite.
Both wrestlers survived several close near-falls during a competitive championship match.
Knight nearly won after driving Omega onto the title belt and attempting a splash from the top rope.
Omega raised his knees to block the move before Knight later escaped an attempted One Winged Angel.
The champion eventually caught Knight with the move and secured the pinfall victory.
Omega had little time to celebrate before the Death Riders entered the ring and attacked him.
Claudio Castagnoli placed a chair around Omega’s head as the group prepared to inflict further damage.
