Alumni move may not mean his WWE run is over
Summary
– Brock Lesnar is reportedly still listed internally by WWE as an active performer
– WWE recently moved Lesnar to the alumni section of its official website
– Lesnar remains classified as a free agent without a Raw or SmackDown brand assignment
Brock Lesnar’s WWE status may not be as final as his WrestleMania 42 exit made it appear.
PWInsider reports that Lesnar is still listed internally by WWE as an active performer. That comes after WWE recently moved him to the alumni section of WWE.com, which led many fans to believe his retirement presentation had become official.
Lesnar is also reportedly listed internally as a free agent. He is not currently assigned to Raw or SmackDown, which keeps his status separate from the regular brand roster.
The confusion started after Lesnar lost to Oba Femi at WrestleMania 42. After the match, Lesnar left his gloves and boots inside the ring while Paul Heyman watched from ringside during an emotional moment.
WWE followed that scene by airing tribute-style video packages on Raw and SmackDown. The company also placed Lesnar inside the forever section of SmackDown’s intro video, further pushing the idea that his active career had ended.
Heyman later told TMZ Sports that he did not know Lesnar was going to retire. He pushed back on the idea that the moment had been secretly planned and pointed to his own emotional reaction as proof.
For now, WWE’s public presentation and internal listing appear to tell two different stories. Lesnar may be away from television, but his active free agent status leaves the door open for another appearance if WWE chooses to go that route.
