Summary

– The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon renewed for a fourth and final season

– Season 4 is currently filming in Madrid, completing Daryl and Carol’s story

– Expected premiere window is fall 2026 on AMC and AMC+

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is officially returning for one last ride. AMC confirmed that the spinoff starring Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride has been renewed for a fourth and final season. The announcement came during San Diego Comic-Con, where showrunner David Zabel and The Walking Dead Universe Chief Content Officer Scott Gimple revealed that the creative team felt this was the right time to bring the story to its conclusion.

Zabel described season 4 as “the last iteration of this show,” noting that it will complete Daryl and Carol’s story in Spain. Production is already underway in Madrid, with Reedus, McBride, and the returning crew focused on delivering a satisfying finale to one of the franchise’s most acclaimed chapters.

The current season found Daryl and Carol stranded in Spain after a failed attempt to return home from France. Their journey took them through London and into Solaz del Mar, a coastal village under threat from El Alcazar’s forces. Season 4 is expected to follow their path toward home, potentially setting up long-awaited reunions with Rick and Michonne as The Walking Dead Universe expands.

While AMC hasn’t announced an exact release date, fans can expect Daryl Dixon season 4 to debut in fall 2026, continuing the show’s annual September premiere pattern on AMC and AMC+. Like previous seasons, the final installment will consist of eight episodes, offering an extended farewell for two of the most beloved survivors in TWD history.

Even as this series nears its end, Zabel and Gimple emphasized that this conclusion applies only to the Daryl Dixon storyline—not necessarily to Daryl and Carol’s futures within the larger TWD Universe. Their story together might end here, but their legacy is far from over.
