Rey Fenix Explains Why the Lucha Brothers Haven’t Reunited in WWE

WWE star says the delay is part of a bigger plan

Summary

– Rey Fenix said the Lucha Brothers reunion in WWE is being delayed intentionally

– The separation allows both Fenix and Penta to build their singles careers

– Fenix believes the reunion will happen when the timing is right

Rey Fenix recently addressed the question many wrestling fans have been asking about the future of the Lucha Brothers in WWE.

On the RRBG Inc podcast, Fenix explained why he and Penta have not reunited as a tag team on WWE television, despite both performers being active in the company. According to Fenix, the current situation is not a problem but rather an opportunity.

Fenix said he misses teaming with his brother, especially after spending years working together as one of the most successful tag teams in modern wrestling. Even so, he believes their time apart allows them both to showcase their abilities as individual performers.

The WWE star noted that he has been able to face and work with several notable wrestlers during this period. Those opportunities, he said, help demonstrate what each team member can accomplish on their own.

Fenix mentioned working with talents such as Chad Gable, Andrade, and Sami Zayn while also competing in other events outside WWE. These matches have allowed him to expand his reputation beyond tag team competition.

Despite their separate paths, Fenix acknowledged that the demand for a Lucha Brothers reunion is well known within the company. He said both he and Penta are aware that fans are waiting for the moment when they team together again.

Fenix emphasized that patience is important in professional wrestling. In his view, the eventual reunion will have a greater impact if it happens at the perfect moment rather than being rushed.

The brothers briefly reunited in late 2025 during an appearance for Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide. That moment teased a possible tag team match involving Dominik Mysterio and El Grande Americano.

Plans for that match changed after Penta suffered an injury leading up to the event. Instead of teaming with his brother, Fenix joined Rey Mysterio in the ring.

For now, the Lucha Brothers remain on separate paths in WWE. Fenix’s comments suggest the reunion is still expected, but the company is waiting for the right time to bring the team back together.
