Former WWE Champion says storyline never moved forward
Summary
– Big E confirms revenge storyline against The New Day was discussed
– Says creative talks happened before he officially retired from the ring
– Now focused on broadcasting and media projects outside active competition
Big E has confirmed that a potential revenge storyline involving The New Day was once discussed before he officially stepped away from in-ring competition.
The former WWE Champion, whose real name is Ettore Ewen, recently reflected on creative conversations that took place following tension within The New Day during their 10th anniversary celebration on Raw. Speaking on 107.7 The Bone, Big E acknowledged that the idea of seeking revenge on Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods was brought up behind the scenes.
He clarified, however, that the concept never progressed beyond discussions. Since announcing his retirement earlier this month due to the neck injury that sidelined his career, Big E has shifted his focus entirely to broadcasting.
Big E described himself as being in a different mindset now, emphasizing mindfulness and meditation as priorities. He stated that his current role is centered on hosting pre- and post-show panels for WWE premium live events.
He also pointed out that The New Day has not been prominently featured on recent premium live event cards, suggesting that any potential storyline momentum faded before it could materialize on television.
Outside of WWE programming, Big E continues to expand his media presence. He now hosts the NFL draft analysis series “The Evaluation,” further establishing himself beyond professional wrestling.
After signing with WWE developmental in 2009 and spending his entire in-ring career with the company, Big E leaves behind a résumé that includes a WWE Championship reign in 2021 and a decade as part of one of WWE’s most successful factions.
While his in-ring chapter has closed, Big E’s next phase remains active, this time from behind the desk rather than inside the ropes.
