Former WWE star says TNA offered the right creative fit and legacy opportunity

Summary

– Nic Nemeth revealed he never seriously considered signing with AEW after leaving WWE

– He said TNA’s atmosphere, legacy, and roster made it the right home for him

– Nemeth cited Kurt Angle as an inspiration behind his decision to join TNA

Nic Nemeth has opened up about why he decided to join TNA Wrestling instead of AEW following his WWE release in 2023. During an interview with Chris Van Vliet, the former WWE standout explained that while he respects AEW and maintains friendships with several people in the company, a deal there was never close.

“I love so many people there,” Nemeth said. “I’ve had a couple of conversations with Tony in the past, and I rooted for those guys every step of the way. AEW being a thing helped a lot of people with their careers and negotiations.”

He explained that although he regularly watches AEW and appreciates the talent, its fast-paced, intricate match style isn’t the best fit for him. “I can adapt to anything, but if I had to remember a long, complex sequence like some of those matches, I’d probably lose the emotional flow and just focus on remembering spots,” he admitted.

Nemeth reflected on his admiration for TNA Hall of Famer Kurt Angle when choosing. “Kurt’s my hero,” he said. “I knew I’d never be him, but I thought maybe I could help TNA grow in my own way. Once I met the locker room and the people behind the scenes, I knew it was the right fit.”

Nemeth made it clear that once he connected with the TNA roster, there was no second-guessing his decision. “I wasn’t going anywhere else. TNA felt right on every level,” he said.

Since joining the company in early 2024, Nemeth has become one of TNA’s top stars, even capturing championship gold. His decision to stay loyal to TNA has already paid off, reinforcing his belief that he’s exactly where he belongs.
