Paul Wight Returns to Commentary on AEW Collision

Former world champion resumes on-air role after long absence

Summary

– Paul Wight returned to the commentary booth on the January 24 episode of AEW Collision

– He joined Excalibur and Tony Schiavone for the full broadcast

– The appearance marked his first regular TV commentary role since mid 2024

Paul Wight made his return to AEW television on the January 24, 2026, edition of AEW Collision, taking a seat at the commentary desk. He worked alongside Excalibur and Tony Schiavone throughout the night, lending his perspective to the in-ring action.

The appearance marked Wight’s first non-pay-per-view pre-show commentary role since AEW Battle of the Belts XI in July 2024. Before that, he was last heard during the Full Gear Tailgate Brawl, but has remained largely off television in recent months.

Wight has kept a lower profile following minor back surgery in late 2025. While his in-ring career has been on pause since November 2023, he has remained connected to AEW through occasional on-air roles.

Earlier in his AEW run, Wight served as a full-time commentator on AEW Dark Elevation and has stepped in across multiple shows when needed. In a December 2025 update, Wight stated that retirement was not on his mind, leaving the door open for future appearances.
