– New voice chat and Welcome Hub features have been added
Sony has released PS5 firmware update version 26.06-14.00.00, adding several features beyond standard system stability improvements.
The update changes how enhanced PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution works on PS5 Pro. The Enhanced PSSR Image Quality setting is now enabled by default, allowing supported games to use the newer image-quality technology.
Enhanced PSSR also works with games that support the previous version of the feature. PS5 Pro owners can turn off the setting by going to Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output> Enhance PSSR Image Quality.
Sony has also added a speaker indicator for voice chat. Players can open the voice chat card in the Control Center, select More, choose Display Who’s Speaking, and enable Display Names.
The update introduces the Community Activity widget to the Welcome Hub. Trending Now highlights multiplayer games and modes gaining popularity, including new releases and titles receiving major content updates.
A Top 10 view also shows the most popular games from the previous week in each player’s region. The feature is designed to help users find active communities and multiplayer sessions.
Bluetooth settings have also changed in certain countries and regions. Turning off Bluetooth can prevent the console from entering rest mode and disable HDMI Device Link, a feature intended for esports venues and similar locations.
Sony has also improved overall system software performance and stability. The update arrives during a busy period for PS5, with Marvel’s Wolverine available and games such as Control Resonant, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, and Grand Theft Auto 6 on the horizon.
