Summary
– Rey Fenix defeated Dragon Lee to reach the tournament final
– Penta advanced after beating La Parka later on Raw
– The brothers will now face each other for a World Heavyweight Championship opportunity
The WWE World Heavyweight Championship No. 1 Contender’s Tournament is down to Penta and Rey Fenix following the August 24 episode of Monday Night Raw.
Fenix earned the first spot in the final by defeating Dragon Lee in the opening semifinal. The two traded fast-paced offense throughout the match, including superkicks, dives, and a Styles Clash from Lee.
Fenix eventually created the opening he needed with a step-up enzuigiri before connecting with a Mexican Muscle Buster. The move was enough to secure the three-count and send him into the tournament final.
Penta competed later in the night against AAA star La Parka in the second semifinal. La Parka pushed Penta deep into the match and nearly scored the victory after connecting with a Spanish Fly from the top rope.
Penta survived the attack and regained control by targeting La Parka’s arm before delivering a Mexican Destroyer off the ropes. The finish gave Penta the victory and officially set the final against his brother.
Fenix came out after Penta’s win, leading to a face-to-face staredown between the two masked stars. World Heavyweight Championship imagery appeared behind them as WWE gave fans their first look at the matchup that will decide the next contender.
Penta and Fenix must now put their relationship aside with a major opportunity at stake. Only one of the brothers can advance and earn the right to challenge for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
