Brock Lesnar has officially announced his retirement from professional wrestling. The former WWE Champion confirmed that his Hell in a Cell match against Oba Femi at SummerSlam was the final match of his career.
During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Lesnar thanked everyone who supported him throughout his remarkable journey. He described SummerSlam as an emotional experience and admitted that he first began considering retirement after Femi slammed him at WrestleMania.
“I’m here today to let the world know that I am retired, and I wanted to say a big thank you to everybody,” Lesnar said. “Saturday was a very emotional day for me.”
Although Lesnar questioned his future after WrestleMania, he still felt he had enough left for one more chapter. That chapter ended inside Hell in a Cell when Femi defeated him at SummerSlam.
“The business… and I still had some fuel in the tank,” Lesnar said. “But Saturday, that’s it for me in the squared circle and for everything else too.”
Lesnar closed his announcement by acknowledging those who followed him from his early athletic career through his final WWE appearance. His journey included becoming an NCAA Division I wrestling champion, a multiple-time WWE world champion, and the UFC Heavyweight Champion.
“I just wanna give a shout-out to everyone in this universe that has followed me since I was a little kid all the way to Saturday,” Lesnar said.
WWE had already begun presenting Lesnar’s SummerSlam defeat as the end of an era. The company moved him back to the alumni section of its official website and aired another career retrospective on Raw, similar to the tribute shown after WrestleMania 42.
This time, however, the retirement announcement came directly from Lesnar. After decades of championships, memorable rivalries, and historic accomplishments across professional wrestling and mixed martial arts, the Beast Incarnate says his career is officially over.
