Niven opens up after months away from the ring
Summary
– Piper Niven revealed she underwent neck surgery after months away from WWE television
– Niven said she had an anterior discectomy in California after a difficult eight-month stretch
– WWE has not announced a return timeline for Niven following the procedure
Piper Niven has revealed the reason behind her long absence from WWE television.
Niven shared a hospital bed photo this week and confirmed that she underwent neck surgery in California. She said the procedure was an anterior discectomy, which is done to remove a damaged disc in the neck.
Niven still managed to joke about the situation, saying she went to California and only came back with a lousy anterior discectomy. The message then became more emotional as she reflected on the past eight months.
Niven said there is a lot she wants to say about that period, but she will explain more later. She also said pain and heartbreak have taught her lessons that will stay with her forever.
The positive news is that Niven said she already felt better after waking up from surgery. She also thanked the people who supported her through what she described as a scary time.
Niven has not wrestled since defeating Charlotte Flair on SmackDown in Dublin last August. WWE has not confirmed when she will return, but fans now have a clearer picture of why she has been away.
I went to California and all I got was this lousy anterior discectomy. 😆
I have so much I want to say about the past 8 months but we can get to that later.
For now, I just want to express my endless love and gratitude for every single soul that has helped me and cared for me… pic.twitter.com/iBrLDKj4pD
