One of the most dominant tag teams of the late 1980s is finally getting its long-awaited moment. Demolition is officially set to join the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2026, closing a complicated chapter between the team and the company.

Bill “Ax” Eadie and Barry “Smash” Darsow received the news during a video call from WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker. The announcement formally recognizes the impact they made during the height of the WWF boom period.

Debuting in 1987, Demolition quickly became a powerhouse presence with their face paint, spiked leather gear, and intimidating ring style. Managed by Mr. Fuji, the duo carved out a reputation as a team that mixed brute force with calculated dominance.

Their legacy took shape at WrestleMania IV in 1988 when they defeated Strike Force to capture their first WWF Tag Team Championship. That reign lasted 478 days, setting a company benchmark that stood for more than two decades before The New Day surpassed it. Along the way, they defended against top teams of the era, including The Rockers, The Twin Towers, The Powers of Pain, and The Hart Foundation.

Demolition captured the titles three times. Their third reign began at WrestleMania VI with a victory over The Colossal Connection, the pairing of Haku and Andre the Giant. The team’s finishing move, the Demolition Decapitation, became one of the defining tandem maneuvers of its generation.

Later, Brian “Crush” Adams joined the group, creating a three-person version of Demolition as Eadie dealt with health concerns. The Hall of Fame honor, however, focuses specifically on the Ax and Smash era that defined the team’s peak.

The induction also represents a major thaw in what was once a strained relationship. Demolition had previously been involved in legal matters with WWE, including a dismissed class-action lawsuit and disputes tied to intellectual property rights. In 2025, both Eadie and Darsow signed Legends contracts, signaling improved ties and paving the way for this recognition.

Before forming Demolition, both men enjoyed notable singles careers. Eadie competed as The Masked Superstar, while Darsow held championship gold in NWA territories and later portrayed Repo Man after Demolition’s run ended in 1991.

The 2026 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony will take place during WrestleMania 42 weekend, cementing Demolition’s place among tag team royalty.
