Arrest angle involving Tony D’Angelo coincides with ratings decline

Summary

– WWE NXT averaged 608,000 viewers on January 20

– Viewership and the P18–49 demo both declined week over week

– Tony D’Angelo’s on-screen arrest was a major storyline moment

WWE NXT experienced a slight downturn in viewership for its January 20, 2026, episode on The CW Network. Despite a storyline-heavy show, the broadcast averaged 608,000 viewers, according to Programming Insider.

The figure represents a decrease of 10,000 viewers from the January 13 episode, which drew 618,000 viewers. The drop equals a week-to-week decline of roughly 1.6 percent in overall audience size.

The key P18–49 demographic also moved downward. NXT posted a 0.08 rating in the demo, slipping from the 0.09 rating recorded the previous week. That change reflects an 11.1 percent decline in the category most closely tracked by advertisers.

A major storyline moment came when Tony D’Angelo attacked multiple competitors after NXT Championship qualifier matches. His actions led to police entering the scene and arresting him, removing D’Angelo from the arena, and closing the segment with heavy emphasis on chaos and consequences.

Elsewhere on the show, Elio LeFleur made his in-ring debut, challenging Ethan Page for the NXT North American Championship. While LeFleur impressed, Page retained the title to remain champion.
