The Witcher 3 DLC Leak Hints at New Desert Setting

Unannounced expansion may bridge The Witcher 3 and The Witcher 4

Summary

– New Witcher 3 DLC reportedly in development for years

– Expansion may explore the desert region of Zerrikania

– Content is said to connect The Witcher 3 with The Witcher 4

A new report has added fuel to ongoing speculation surrounding an unannounced DLC for The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt.

According to IGN Poland, information about a potential expansion has circulated quietly for years but was previously held back due to limited sourcing. With recent leaks aligning, the outlet has now shared what it learned from a long-time insider.

The report claims the DLC was in early development well before The Witcher 4 entered full production. At the time, developers were said to be interested in moving away from familiar regions and experimenting with a drastically different setting.

That setting was reportedly Zerrikania, a desert land located east of the Northern Kingdoms and Nilfgaard. While Zerrikania has been referenced in Witcher lore, it has never been fully explored in the games.

IGN Poland cautions that the information dates back several years, and game development plans are often subject to change. The concept may have evolved or shifted closer to locations planned for The Witcher 4.

If released, the DLC would serve as a narrative bridge between The Witcher 3 and its upcoming sequel, expanding Geralt’s world one more time before the franchise moves forward.
