Expanded partnership follows end of Peacock archive deal
Summary
– Netflix is now the exclusive U.S. home of WWE’s video library
– The previous Peacock agreement for WWE archives has officially ended
– Documentaries and original WWE programming are included in the deal
Netflix and WWE have expanded their long-term partnership, making Netflix the official home of WWE’s library in the United States. The move follows the expiration of WWE’s five-year archive agreement with Peacock.
The announcement came shortly after a special Stranger Things themed episode of Monday Night RAW aired on Netflix. The expanded deal deepens the relationship between WWE and the global streaming platform as both companies continue to invest in wrestling content.
Under the new agreement, Netflix now carries WWE’s library of Premium Live Events that aired before September 2025. This includes historic events such as WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and the Royal Rumble, along with a collection of award-winning documentaries and original WWE programming.
While Netflix now controls the majority of WWE’s archive content, WWE will still maintain a presence on Peacock. Saturday Night’s Main Event specials and weekly SmackDown episodes remain exclusive to NBC and Peacock under a separate deal that includes both current and archived episodes.
Current WWE Premium Live Events, defined as shows taking place after September 2025, are exclusive to ESPN in the United States. This creates a split rights structure across multiple platforms, depending on the era and type of content being produced.
WWE’s presence on Netflix began in January 2025 with Monday Night RAW, which has since become a regular performer in Netflix’s global English-language Top 10. Past episodes of RAW are also included as part of the WWE library now housed on the platform.
The timing of the expanded deal also aligns with the upcoming return of WWE Unreal. Season two of the behind the scenes documentary series is scheduled to premiere later in January.
Netflix continues to grow its entertainment footprint as well. The company recently announced a massive acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery’s studios and streaming operations, further signaling its aggressive expansion strategy.
The WWE library move marks a major shift in how wrestling content is distributed in the United States and reinforces Netflix’s growing role in live and sports adjacent entertainment.
