AEW ended 2025 with a shocking championship change as Willow Nightingale captured the AEW TBS Championship. She defeated Mercedes Moné in the main event of Dynamite: New Year’s Smash.
The match took place live from the Liberty First Credit Union Arena in Omaha, Nebraska. From the opening bell, both competitors pushed the pace, delivering a hard-hitting contest that kept the outcome in doubt.
Moné relied on her experience and precision offense, while Nightingale answered with power and resilience. The action escalated quickly with high-impact strikes, aerial offense, and punishing spots around the ring.
Nightingale appeared close to victory after landing a Death Valley Driver, followed by a moonsault, but Moné narrowly survived. Moné responded with a backstabber and frog splash before sending Nightingale through the announce desk late in the match.
Despite the damage, Nightingale beat the referee’s count and returned to the ring. She countered a Money Maker attempt and delivered Babe with the Powerbomb to secure the pinfall.
With the win, Nightingale ended Moné’s dominant reign and claimed the AEW TBS Championship. She now also holds the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Titles, positioning herself as one of AEW’s top champions entering 2026.
