Masked star earns AEW World Title shot with landmark victory

Summary

– Bandido defeated Ricochet to win the 2025 Dynamite Diamond Ring
– He became the first winner not named MJF since the ring debuted
– The victory earned Bandido an AEW World Championship match

Bandido captured the 2025 Dynamite Diamond Ring by defeating Ricochet on the December 24 episode of AEW Dynamite on 34th Street. The win marked one of the most significant moments of Bandido’s AEW career.

The closing moments of the match featured interference from Gates of Agony, as Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona created a distraction in an attempt to help Ricochet secure the victory. Despite the outside involvement, Bandido remained composed and avoided the finish.

Ricochet attempted to end the match with the Spirit Gun, but Bandido countered at the last second. The masked luchador ducked the move and rolled Ricochet into a crucifix pin to score the decisive win.

After the bell, Ricochet and Gates of Agony continued the assault, targeting the reigning ROH World Champion. The post-match attack was stopped when Brody King rushed to the ring to make the save.

Bandido’s victory ended a dominant streak by MJF, who had won the Dynamite Diamond Ring every year since its introduction in 2019. Bandido is now the first wrestler outside of MJF to hold the honor.

With the win, Bandido earned a future AEW World Championship opportunity. He is now set to challenge the reigning champion at AEW Dynamite Maximum Carnage on January 14.
