Summary

– Recent shoots featured major cast members in action-heavy scenes around downtown

– Multiple downtown streets will face closures as production activity ramps up

Filming for The Walking Dead: Dead City is set to return to Worcester during the first week of December. The series has used downtown Worcester as a recurring location for several months, transforming well-known streets into the ruins of post-apocalyptic Manhattan.

Production was last in the city from November 17 to November 20. During that stretch, Logan Kim lit a walker on fire in an alley off Mechanic Street. Lauren Cohan and Aimee Garcia filmed a high-energy sequence while walkers slammed against glass doors at the base of a building standing in for the Empire State Building. Jeffrey Dean Morgan battled more than 150 zombie extras inside the old Worcester Memorial Auditorium. Jimmi Simpson also filmed scenes on Portland Street, shouting for Maggie during an intense moment.

City officials are preparing for road closures once again as the show sets up new scenes across multiple downtown blocks. Crews are expected to return with large set pieces, lighting rigs, and extensive special effects work.

Zombie fans in the area are likely to see more star sightings and production activity as Dead City continues its latest round of filming.
