Cardona pushes back after fake accounts promote investment fraud

Summary

– Matt Cardona called out two Instagram accounts impersonating him

– The fake profiles used his photos to advertise a “20% monthly return” scheme

– Cardona is urging platforms to remove the accounts without charging creators

Matt Cardona publicly addressed an ongoing impersonation issue after discovering two Instagram accounts using his photos to promote fraudulent investment offers. The accounts claimed investors could hand over large sums of money with the promise of a guaranteed 20 percent monthly return.

Cardona shared screenshots of both profiles and asked fans for advice on how to get the accounts removed. He voiced frustration at the idea that creators often face high fees or complex processes when trying to eliminate impersonators who misuse their image.

The fraudulent accounts displayed inflated follower counts to appear legitimate. One had a private account with more than fifty thousand followers, while the public account had over three hundred thousand. Both accounts used Cardona’s wrestling photos to lure potential victims.

Cardona has dealt with impersonation several times in the past. He is now applying public pressure on Instagram to address scams more aggressively and protect users from misleading profiles that exploit public figures.
