WWE supported her pursuit of Bad Lieutenant Tokyo
Summary
– Liv Morgan expected WWE to object to the film’s adult material
– She landed the role after submitting two audition scenes
– Morgan hopes the experience leads to more acting opportunities
Liv Morgan thought WWE might prevent her from auditioning for Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo. Instead, she says the company encouraged her to pursue the opportunity.
In a Japanese interview, Morgan explained that the film’s adult material initially concerned her because of WWE’s PG programming. However, executives who admired director Takashi Miike supported her audition.
Morgan knew Miike’s name but had not watched his films before pursuing the role. She studied his previous work, then recorded two requested scenes and submitted them to the production team. That audition secured her the part of Megan, a mysterious woman who travels to Japan to study sushi-making.
The film also allowed Morgan to apply skills developed through wrestling. She explained that WWE had taught her how to portray characters and provoke emotional reactions, experience she found useful on a movie set.
One memorable moment developed during filming rather than coming from the script. Morgan said Miike suggested she lick sushi after several takes of a scene that originally required her to examine it.
Morgan also praised co-star Shun Oguri’s attention to detail and kindness. Her extended stay allowed her to explore Japan beyond the shorter visits she had previously made with WWE.
Looking ahead, Morgan hopes to pursue more acting work and remain open to different roles. She credited persistence and self-belief with helping her overcome difficult circumstances and reach opportunities she once dreamed about.
