David Otunga Backs WWE and Montez Ford Defense

David Otunga Backs WWE and Montez Ford Defense

His assessment favors the defense while leaving room for additional evidence.

Summary

– David Otunga believes WWE and Montez Ford have a strong defense based on the footage he reviewed

– Security officer Noel Lucas alleges unwanted contact during a Raw entrance

– Otunga acknowledged that another angle or credible testimony could change his assessment

David Otunga believes Montez Ford and WWE have a credible defense against the lawsuit over Ford’s interaction with a security officer, although he cautioned that his opinion depends on the evidence currently available.

Reviewing footage of the encounter, the former WWE performer said he could not clearly identify the repeated, deliberate physical contact described in the complaint. He noted that parts of the interaction were obscured and acknowledged that another camera angle could show something different.

The lawsuit was brought by Noel Lucas, a Cook County Sheriff’s officer who was working off-duty security at Allstate Arena. Lucas alleges Ford performed an unwanted sexualized dance during The Street Profits’ entrance on Raw and repeatedly made contact with his leg.

Lucas also alleges that the circulation of the footage caused humiliation and distress, including ridicule directed at him and his children. His complaint names Ford, WWE and Event Services, LLC, and includes 14 counts covering alleged assault, battery and other claims.

Otunga interpreted the footage he discussed as an attempt at comedy and questioned whether it supported the alleged intentional contact or severe emotional distress. That is his assessment, rather than a finding that the allegations are false. A person’s apparent reaction in a clip does not by itself establish consent or resolve the disputed facts.

He also said credible testimony or clearer footage showing repeated intentional contact would materially change his analysis. Otunga discussed settlement as a possible business decision, while emphasizing that a payment would not necessarily amount to an admission.

Lucas is seeking damages and an order preventing further use of his identity. The dispute remains unresolved, and Otunga’s commentary does not determine how the court will assess the evidence or individual claims.
