Three teams are confirmed for the expanded tournament

WWE has revealed the first teams entering this year’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.
During an appearance on Busted Open Radio, NXT General Manager Robert Stone confirmed The Creed Brothers, AAA World Tag Team Champions Dr. Wagner Jr. and Galeno, and NXT Tag Team Champions The Vanity Project.
Dr. Wagner Jr., Galeno, and The Vanity Project will all receive first-round byes because they enter the tournament as champions.
The Creed Brothers will also compete, although Stone did not announce whether they will receive a bye.
WWE announced the tournament’s return during the September 15 episode of NXT. This year’s competition will include teams from NXT, RAW, and SmackDown.
Stone said the remaining 12 teams will be announced through NXT’s social media channels later this week, when WWE releases the full bracket.
The first group of teams already gives the tournament an international feel, with AAA champions joining established WWE teams and the current NXT champions.
