Bayley returned to WWE television during the September 7 episode of Monday Night Raw and immediately resumed her rivalry with Lyra Valkyria.
Valkyria faced Sol Ruca and Maxxine Dupri in a triple threat qualifying match for the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match.
The match appeared to be over when Valkyria hit Dupri with the Night Wing and went for the cover. Bayley suddenly appeared at ringside and pulled referee Jessika Carr out of the ring before she could complete the three-count.
Valkyria was distracted by Bayley’s arrival, giving Ruca the opening she needed. Ruca connected with the Sol Snatcher and pinned Valkyria to become the first woman to qualify for the Money in the Bank Ladder Match.
Bayley entered the ring after the bell and attacked Valkyria with a series of strikes. She continued the assault outside the ring and drove Valkyria onto the floor.
The returning star then cleared the announce table and attempted to place Valkyria on top of it. Valkyria escaped before Bayley could complete the attack and fled through the crowd.
Bayley had been absent from WWE television since losing to Valkyria at Sunday Night’s Main Event on July 18. She competed at a live event on July 26 but had not appeared on Raw or SmackDown during that time.
Reports before Raw indicated that WWE had started discussing creative plans for Bayley’s return. There was also a belief within the company that she had agreed to a new contract, although WWE had not publicly announced a deal.
Bayley’s actions made her intentions clear. She returned to cost Valkyria a major opportunity and appears determined to settle their unfinished rivalry.
