Syxx Shares Memories of His $40,000 Check for WCW vs. nWo: World Tour

Summary

– Sean Waltman, aka Syxx, reflects on the lucrative days of ’90s wrestling video games.

– Waltman received a $40,000 check for his appearance in WCW vs. nWo: World Tour.

– The former WWE star didn’t need to perform any extra work to earn the payment.

Sean Waltman, famously known as Syxx from the nWo, recently took a trip down memory lane, reminiscing about the ’90s wrestling boom—a time when not only wrestling matches were cash cows, but video games were also raking in serious money. One of the standout moments? Waltman’s lucrative deal with the iconic video game “WCW vs. nWo: World Tour” for the Nintendo 64.

Released in 1997, the game was an instant hit, featuring top WCW stars and international wrestlers. As Waltman recounts in a new book titled The Art of N64 Wrestling Games, he didn’t have to do much to make it happen. Unlike today’s detailed game creation processes, Waltman didn’t pick his moves or go through scanning. Yet, he received a massive check for $40,000 as part of the game’s residuals. “I just remember receiving a check for 40k in residuals,” he revealed. “It might’ve made more, but that was my first check.”

He’s not too shabby for simply lending his name and persona to the game. This wasn’t Waltman’s first video game appearance, either; fans may also remember him as the 1-2-3 Kid in the 1994 WWF Raw video game.

Waltman’s reflections are a reminder of just how different the wrestling business was in the 90s—big payouts, minimal effort, and an era that cemented many stars’ legacies.
