The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon — The Book of Carol returns on September 29, and this season promises to take the zombie apocalypse to new heights. As Norman Reedus’ Daryl navigates a post-apocalyptic Paris, viewers will see the Louvre, one of the world’s most renowned art museums, play a significant role in the storyline.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner and executive producer David Zobel revealed the challenges of securing the Louvre as a filming location. “Orchestrating that was really difficult and complicated,” Zobel explained, noting the striking contrast between France’s rich cultural heritage and the devastation of the apocalypse. “The Louvre was always a place that we wanted to film,” Zobel said, adding that it would help provide critical context to the show’s antagonist, Marion Genet, portrayed by Anne Charrier.

Norman Reedus confirmed that audiences will glimpse the real Mona Lisa as the show weaves the museum’s grandeur into the backdrop of the ongoing apocalypse.

The show remains a top performer for AMC+, with Reedus serving as star and executive producer. With a third season already greenlit, filming has begun in Spain, spanning the regions of Madrid, Galicia, Aragon, Catalonia, and Valencia.

Season 2 will see Daryl and Carol (Melissa McBride) confronting personal demons and battling new threats. Daryl grapples with the decision to stay in France. At the same time, Carol searches for him in the U.S. Meanwhile, Genet’s paramilitary group, Pouvoir du Vivant (Power of the Living), is gaining strength, setting the stage for an explosive conflict with the Union of Hope.
