Garret Dillahunt, known for his role as John Dorie in “Fear the Walking Dead,” has been cast in a key role in ABC’s upcoming crime drama “High Potential.” The series, created and written by Drew Goddard, is adapted from the French show “Haut Potentiel Intellectuel” and is set to premiere this fall.

Dillahunt will play Lieutenant Melon, the head of the LAPD robbery division. His character holds a grudge against his colleague Selena, played by Judy Reyes, who he feels unfairly snagged the job running the major crimes unit. The show stars Kaitlin Olson as Morgan, a single mother and police department cleaner whose sharp intellect and unconventional problem-solving skills lead her to work as a consultant alongside the by-the-book detective Karadec, played by Daniel Sunjata.

Dillahunt’s casting adds significant experience to the series. His recent work includes roles in “The Dead Don’t Hurt” with Viggo Mortensen and “Red Right Hand” with Orlando Bloom. Fans have also seen him in the Freevee series “Sprung” and Netflix’s “Dead to Me.”
