Details on MJF’s Contract and Creative Plans Revealed

Summary

– MJF agreed to a new deal with AEW in 2022, making him the highest-paid talent.

– He returned at Double or Nothing, unveiling an AEW-centric tattoo.

– Creative plans and previous injury issues have shaped MJF’s current trajectory.

MJF is back in AEW, dramatically returning at Double or Nothing, where he revealed his new AEW-centric tattoo. According to Fightful Select, MJF agreed to a new deal with AEW in 2022, shortly after his controversial Double or Nothing weekend stunt, where he booked a flight out of Vegas before his match against Wardlow. It’s still being determined if this was an extension of his previous contract or a completely new deal, but either way, MJF is now about 22 months into this new agreement. This deal reportedly makes him the highest-paid talent in AEW.

MJF has not undergone shoulder surgery following his November 2023 injury. Before he and Adam Cole suffered injuries, they were slated to wrestle each other in late 2023, with Cole possibly unseating MJF as AEW champion. However, Cole’s ankle injury and MJF’s shoulder injury led to plans changing, and Samoa Joe ultimately defeated MJF in December 2023 at AEW World’s End.

MJF had not been seen in AEW until his return at Double or Nothing, where he was reportedly put in a wheelchair and shrouded ahead of his entrance to keep his return a secret. MJF has promised to be a force for “hate” moving forward, and sources have described his creative ideas as ‘out of left field,’ suggesting exciting developments ahead.
