A Weekend of Exciting Wrestling Action

Summary

– AEW Double or Nothing outperformed WWE King and Queen of the Ring in online searches.

– AEW ranked as the 11th most searched topic on Google with 20,000 searches.

– WWE King and Queen of the Ring failed to make the top 20, attracting fewer than 20,000 searches.

This past weekend was thrilling for professional wrestling fans, with WWE and AEW hosting their Premium Live Events. WWE brought the spectacle to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with WWE King and Queen of the Ring PLE, while AEW held the 5th edition of its inaugural pay-per-view, AEW Double or Nothing, in Las Vegas.

Despite both events delivering impressive performances, AEW surprisingly outpaced WWE in online searches. According to the Wrestling Observer, AEW Double or Nothing was the 11th most searched topic on Google, garnering 20,000 searches. While this number isn’t exceptionally high, it is notable in the context of the competition.

In contrast, WWE King and Queen of the Ring did not reach the top 20 searches, drawing fewer than 20,000 searches. Historically, WWE events rarely fall below 200,000 searches, with even lower-performing shows like Backlash reaching around 100,000. This marks a significant decline in search interest for WWE events.

“Double or Nothing was No. 11 in the most searched topics yesterday on Google. That only meant 20,000 searches which is not a big number. However, WWE King & Queen of the Ring as noted yesterday was the first WWE PPV show in history not to crack the top 20 on its day, meaning less than 20,000 searches. WWE shows previously rarely did under 200,000 and Backlash was considered low at 100,000,” reported the Wrestling Observer.

As AEW continues to gain traction, it will be interesting to see if they can maintain this momentum with their upcoming events. The competition between AEW and WWE remains fierce, and fans eagerly watch how both promotions evolve.
