Tony Khan’s Ambitious Signings Face Challenges as AEW Grapples with Declining Ratings

Summary:
– AEW needs help to maintain viewership levels in recent weeks.
– WWE’s NXT overtakes AEW in viewership during head-to-head competition.
– This week marks AEW Dynamite’s lowest viewership since June 2022.

AEW, under the leadership of Tony Khan, has been making significant strides in the wrestling world, bolstering its roster with impressive signings. However, these ambitions have encountered hurdles, and the once-soaring television viewership has hit a rough patch.

In the latest developments, AEW’s flagship show, Dynamite, drew 774,000 viewers this week. A day prior, WWE’s NXT garnered 787,000 viewers during their Halloween Havoc Night 1 special on October 24th. This isn’t the first time in October that NXT has outperformed AEW in viewership during head-to-head competition.

Wrestlenomics, a reliable source for wrestling statistics, pointed out that this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite marked an unfortunate milestone. It recorded the lowest viewership since June 2022, with an average of 774,000 viewers on TBS.

Taking a deeper look at the numbers, Wrestlenomics highlighted that AEW Dynamite had a promising start with 982,000 fans but experienced a significant drop in the first half-hour, plummeting from 936,000 to 752,000 viewers. By the end of the night, the show had only 646,000 viewers.

As AEW strives to regain its footing and provide compelling content, these viewership challenges serve as a reminder of the competitive nature of the wrestling landscape. The company faces the task of not only retaining their loyal fan base but also attracting new viewers to sustain their growth.
