The RAW Superstar Addresses the Buzz Surrounding His WWE Journey
Tommaso Ciampa, a name synonymous with NXT’s golden era, recently tackled the circulating rumors regarding his transition to WWE’s main roster. As he carved a niche for himself in NXT, fans eagerly awaited his move to the bigger stage. However, the narrative suggesting his reluctance to join the main roster became a hot topic.
Upon his arrival on RAW, Ciampa initially found himself in a storyline alongside The Miz. An untimely injury, however, temporarily halted this trajectory. Now fully recovered, he’s back in the spotlight, showcasing his skills on Monday nights.
In a revealing conversation with Chris Van Vliet, Ciampa addressed the rumors. He stressed that the notion he was hesitant about the main roster move is far from the truth.
He explained, “During our NXT days, there’s this misconception that’s been floating around, which I find misleading. People remember our NXT tenure and assume, ‘They didn’t want to ascend.’ But that’s not the case. We were part of a transformative phase in NXT. From the days of Sami Zayn and Cesaro to the times of Kevin Owens, Bayley, Sasha Banks, and then our group with Finn Balor and Shinsuke Nakamura, leading to the Undisputed Era. The energy was palpable.”
Drawing an analogy, Ciampa said, “It’s akin to asking ECW stalwarts like Tommy Dreamer and Sandman if they aspired to shift to WWE. The charm of WrestleMania is undeniable. But our ambition was to elevate NXT to that stature. Could we draw massive crowds? Could we rival WrestleMania’s aura? That was our collective vision.”
While Ciampa had previously hinted at contemplating retirement if he was moved to the main roster due to its demanding schedule, he’s now a prominent figure on RAW, proving his mettle week after week.
