Amidst a Sea of Sports, WWE Raw Holds Its Ground with Younger Audiences

Monday night’s WWE Raw faced a formidable challenge, squaring off against heavy-hitters in the sports world. With an average viewership clocking in at 1.48 million, the show experienced a minor dip. However, the silver lining emerged in the form of the 18-49 demographic, which saw a notable uptick, registering a 0.44 rating.

The sports landscape was buzzing, notably with the Dallas Cowboys taking on the Los Angeles Chargers in an NFL showdown and the Philadelphia Phillies clashing with the Arizona Diamondbacks in a pivotal baseball playoff game. Both events witnessed a surge in their viewership from the previous week. The NFL game alone pulled in a staggering 19.59 million viewers, marking a 16% increase in the coveted 18-49 demographic and a 13% ascent in overall viewership. The playoffs attracted 3.72 million viewers on the baseball front, an 18% viewership boost, complemented by a modest 2% rise in the 18-49 demographic.

Despite the sports onslaught, Raw showcased its resilience. Securing the fifth spot on cable and third in its time slot, it trailed only three NFL-centric broadcasts on ESPN and the baseball playoffs on TBS. Week-over-week comparisons reveal Raw’s viewership declined by 5%, but the show witnessed a 4% and 6% growth in the 18-49 and 18-34 demographics, respectively.
