Sony’s Latest PS5 Model Demands an Additional Purchase for Vertical Stability
Sony’s slimmer PlayStation 5 model unveiled has stirred discussions among gaming enthusiasts. This revamped version, set to hit the market in November, comes with a catch: if you wish to position your console vertically, you’ll need to shell out an extra $30. While the original PlayStation 5 had a versatile stand catering to both horizontal and vertical orientations, this new iteration demands a separate purchase for vertical stability. Priced at $29.99 USD (with equivalent prices in other currencies), this vertical stand isn’t bundled with the console. However, Sony ensures that a horizontal stand, resembling a kickstand, will accompany the new PS5.
The redesigned PS5 boasts a volume reduction of over 30% and weight decrease ranging between 18% and 24%. Launching initially in the US, it will gradually make its way to other regions in the subsequent months. The storage remains consistent at 1TB for both standard and digital editions. A notable feature for digital edition buyers is the option to integrate a Blu-ray disc drive later, available separately at a price point starting from $79.99.
