Cena’s Return to WWE: What’s Next for the Hollywood Star?
The 16-time World Champion and Hollywood sensation John Cena will make waves in the WWE universe again. However, fans anticipating a colossal showdown between Cena and the “Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns in Saudi Arabia might have to temper their expectations. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (WON), despite the recent promos where Paul Heyman hailed Cena as “the second greatest of all time,” Cena has no plans to face Reigns at the upcoming Crown Jewel event.
Interestingly, Cena’s involvement in this year’s Crown Jewel is confirmed, marking a significant shift from 2018. Back then, Cena opted out of WWE’s event in Saudi Arabia, reportedly due to concerns about how his participation would be perceived in Hollywood circles. He was initially slated to compete against Rey Mysterio in the World Cup tournament.
Recent promotional material from “Riyaydh Season” showcases Cena, hinting at his participation in multiple events in Riyadh. This aligns with the Saudi capital’s Crown Jewel event scheduled for November 4.
Post the WWE Fastlane event, where Cena is set to team up with LA Knight against the formidable Bloodline, fans can catch Cena on the upcoming episode of “WWE NXT.” This episode is particularly noteworthy as it will air simultaneously with “AEW Dynamite.” Cena’s role will be pivotal, as he will be supporting Carmelo Hayes in his bout against Bron Breakker. To add more intrigue, Paul Heyman will be mentoring Breakker during this high-stakes match.
