Former AEW TBS Champion Makes Waves with WWE Transition

In a move that has sent ripples through the wrestling community, Jade Cargill, the ex-AEW TBS Champion, has inked a multi-year deal with WWE. After a nearly three-year stint under Tony Khan’s AEW banner, Cargill chose not to renew her contract, culminating her AEW journey with a bout against Kris Statlander on the September 15 “Rampage” episode.

Now, as she gears up at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, the wrestling world is abuzz with speculation about her impending on-screen debut. Given Cargill’s background as a former basketball player and her undeniable charisma, it’s evident WWE sees her as a significant asset.

Mickie James, a seasoned veteran and five-time WWE Women’s Champion, weighed in on Cargill’s move during her appearance on “Busted Open.” James expressed, “Jade’s signing with WWE seemed inevitable. She has the makings of a star, coupled with her TV exposure, making her a familiar face to the fans. This move feels like the next logical step in her career.”

However, James also opined that Cargill, a relative newcomer to the wrestling scene since November 2020, might benefit from starting in NXT to refine her skills. Despite her limited match count during her AEW tenure, Cargill’s unique blend of star power and prior TV experience could set her apart, as James suggests.

As fans eagerly await Cargill’s WWE debut, she marks a significant transition, becoming only the second AEW talent to switch over, with Cody Rhodes being the trailblazer.
