The Man Speaks Out on the Need for More Credible Contenders on RAW
In the ever-competitive landscape of professional wrestling, credibility is a currency. Becky Lynch, a cornerstone of WWE’s women’s division and a trailblazer in her own right, recently shed light on what she perceives as a potential shortfall in RAW’s women’s roster.
Having recently captured the NXT Women’s Championship from Tiffany Stratton, Lynch has been on a relentless path, defending her title and proving her mettle. However, in a candid conversation with the New York Post, she expressed concerns about the depth of credible challengers on RAW.
Lynch stated,” Currently, we are a little light on women with credibility on Raw. The objective is to elevate these talented women, give them a platform, and spotlight them in championship matches. This not only benefits the audience by introducing them to a broader range of talent but also sets the stage for compelling storylines.”
She continued, emphasizing the importance of screen time for building a wrestler’s profile, “It’s challenging to gain momentum without TV exposure. And without a narrative or a purpose, that screen time becomes elusive. We’ve seen Rhea Ripley’s association with The Judgement Day, but there’s so much more potential to tap into. That’s where I see an opportunity to step in, offer challenges, and elevate the division.”
Lynch’s commitment to the business and her drive to elevate others is evident. She’s not just content being a top star; she’s actively seeking ways to bring others to her level. “I’m grateful for my time in the spotlight, but I’m hungry for more. Whether it’s NXT, dark matches on SmackDown, or my other commitments outside the ring, I’m all in,” she added.
As the wrestling community anticipates her upcoming Extreme Rules match against Tiffany Stratton at NXT No Mercy on September 30th, the bigger question remains: Will WWE heed Lynch’s call and invest more in building credible contenders in the RAW women’s division?
