AJ Styles Claps Back: Embracing the Modern Lingo

The Phenomenal One Takes on a Fan Over “Young People Language”

AJ Styles, renowned as one of the world’s premier pro wrestlers, is not just evolving in the ring but also in his vocabulary. With age, he’s been infusing his promos and backstage segments with contemporary online terms, often associated with younger folks. Recently, he took a moment to enlighten a fan who poked fun at him for this very reason.

Since his memorable debut in the 2016 Royal Rumble, Styles has been a force to reckon with in WWE. He’s locked horns with top-tier talents like Randy Orton and John Cena, carving a legacy that undoubtedly points towards a future WWE Hall of Fame induction.

However, with age comes wisdom, and Styles is no exception. A fan recently shared clips on Twitter showcasing Styles using modern slang terms like ‘clout’ and ‘cap’, jesting about his use of ‘young people language’. Styles, in his characteristic style, responded with a mini-lesson. He pointed out that the term ‘clout’, which many assume to be a recent addition to the lexicon, has roots dating back to the 1860s.

He elaborated, “Clout… The slang appears early as the 1860s for ‘political influence,’ seemingly derived from an age-old interpretation of clout meaning ‘punch’ or ‘force.’ Someone with clout has the power to make things happen, be it on Capitol Hill or Wall Street.”

Fresh from a victory on the latest episode of Friday Night Smackdown, the future looks bright for Styles. Fans are eagerly anticipating his next move, with many hoping to see him clinch another WWE title soon.
