Dominik Mysterio, the current NXT North American Champion, recently shed light on his championship aspirations and the one obstacle that stands in his way: Gunther, the WWE Intercontinental Champion.
Since his explosive debut on the WWE main roster, Gunther has established himself as an indomitable force. His prowess was further solidified when he clinched the Intercontinental Championship from Ricochet in June 2022. With over 430 days holding the title, he’s on the brink of setting a new record as the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion.
In a candid chat with Bakers Bantering, Dominik expressed his ambition to wear the Intercontinental Championship belt. However, the thought of facing Gunther, especially after a past encounter, gives him pause.
Dominik recalled their previous in-ring clash: “I’ve always aspired to be the Intercontinental Champion. But facing Gunther’s chops? That’s a different story. I’ve felt them twice, notably at the Royal Rumble, and it’s an experience I’m not eager to repeat. It was far from pleasant. However, should I ever lose the North American Title, the allure of the IC Title might just be too strong to resist.”
